The program of iBG-izmir for Core Services covers a large spectrum of state-of-the-art facilities. There are core facilities serving mostly for research such as Flow Cytometry and Cell Sorting, Genomics, Bioinformatics, BSL3/ABSL3, Confocal Microscopy, Fluorescence and Optic Microscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy and Histopathology.
Another set of core facilities is being established with the aim of serving for research, but also for serving biomedical and pharmaceutical sector to accelerate the development biotechnology products such as biopharmaceuticals including biosimilars, therapeutic cells, medical diagnostic kits and other medical devices. These facilities include GMP quality cell production and GMP quality biopharmaceuticals pilot production sites. GLP quality analytic labs for therapeutic cells, biopharmaceuticals, and medical devices, as well as facilities for preclinical testing sites such as pharmacology and toxicology laboratories including biocompatibility testing facilities. A state-of-the-art Vivarium for rodents and zebrafish allowing the production of genetically modified models complement these facilities. Currently, some of these services are fully functional or will be functional within a few months. Others, in particular, GMP facilities will be available for external use in coming years.
