Event is organized by Council of Higher Education (YÖK), for the second time under the heading of “YÖK Health Conversations”. The organisation was hosted by Dokuz Eylül University (DEU). The director of Izmir International Biomedicine and Genome Institute (DEU iBG-izmir), Prof.Dr. Mehmet Öztürk made a presentation about “New Horizons: Cancer Researches in Turkey”.

The event began with the speech of Rector of the DEU, Prof. Dr. Adnan Kasman. YÖK President Prof. Dr. M. A. Yekta Saraç stated that they gave importance to the Research Centers operating in our country as YÖK and their support will continue to increase the quality of the work carried out in these centers. Saying that they are looking positively towards investments that will reduce the foreign dependency of our country in the field of health, YÖK President Saraç added that they closely follow and support the work carried out by iBG.

After the speech of YÖK President Sarac, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ozturk’s interview regarding to “New Horizons: Cancer Researches in Turkey” started. In the discussion of the historical process of cancer treatments,from the 1800s onwards, innovations in health care technology were mentioned. Prof.Dr. Öztürk completed his speech by giving information about the foundation and work areas of DEÜ iBG-izmir.

After the interview, YÖK President Sarac answered questions from students and academicians.
